How I Stopped Social Networking Addiction

We are currently in the era when Social Networking Sites (SNS) are very popular. It makes communication and interaction with friends so much easy. However, because of its popularity, people spend so much time with these SNS even though they should be doing something else.

Office workers even check their Facebook, Twitter, MySpace or Tumblr accounts while at work.

When you calculate the minutes or even hours you spend on these SNS in a week, you may be surprised with the number! I also had a time when I got addicted with these SNS that I neglected my work, and spent most of my time of Facebook and Tumblr. It is pretty embarrassing to admit, but because I enjoyed interacting with my “virtual friends”, I even forgot about my job.

I knew that I had to break that habit and focus on work more. So after a few months of Facebooking and Tumbling, I finally decided to do something that will get my mind off these SNS.

Here are the things I did that surely worked for me:

1. Deactivated my Tumblr account

That was a brave decision for me because I really loved Tumblr. It is a micro-blogging site and I was really active there for about a year. But because it is eating so much of my time, I deactivated it for good. As a result, I now finish work a lot quicker and I can spend time reading books instead of scrolling down on the dashboard and read on other people’s dramas.

2. Befriended my boss on Facebook

This may be quite surprising, but it works! I cannot deactivate my Facebook account because I have important contacts there that I’d like to keep in touch with sometimes. So, in order for me to control myself from frequently logging in and posting on my wall, I just sent a friend request to my boss. Of course, my boss will get angry with me if he knew I spend so much time on Facebook. Now I have more reason to stop logging in to my Facebook that often.

3. Only reply to Wall and Inbox Messages

Facebook lets your friend comment on your posts and stuff. Once you replied to them, the trend will go on and on. So what I did was to reply only if my friend posts on my wall or if they sent me a message on the inbox. Not only that, I also do not reply them all. It may sound a little rude, but if I knew the conversation is important, I just leave it open. I just get back to it when I have free time. That way, there are no useless conversations to waste my time on.

4. Chatbox always Offline

I never open my chatbox because I know at one time or another; someone will pop up and start a conversation with me. So instead of my friend thinking of me as “rude” when I try to end the conversation, I just don’t try to start any conversations at all.

Believe it or not, life is a whole lot better when you try to avoid Social Networking. It makes you more efficient on work, as well as letting you enjoy the simple things in life.

When Seeking for Jobs

Because of the different life circumstances, we sometimes see ourselves losing our jobs. I have my own experiences of such. But still, I gain better and more promising jobs ahead of me. It is because of the way I look at my circumstances, and how I move forward after every obstacle on the way.

After leaving college, I figured that I have a better future in writing. At first, there was no sign of work for about a month. I still kept looking. This is because I rely upon my instincts more than what other people are telling me. So, I ventured and continued to hope for a job.
The first job was good for a starter like me. However the pay obviously cannot pay all my bills. So I continued to venture again. Websites upon websites and sending so many emails to different people – just to find an employer. I have to advertise myself and my work in order to get a better job. After about 3 months, I got one! It was my first ever full-time writing job. I excelled a lot and learned a lot from it.
I do believe it is true that Law of Attraction works. If I just hold on to what I want patiently and work in achieving it, I will get it. But it is not about attraction alone. I also exerted a lot of effort and hard work into my endeavors before I finally achieved every success I got.
More success will definitely come!

The Winners Creed by Napolen Hill

I know that I have the ability to achieve my definite purpose in life:

therefore I demand of myself, persistent, continuous action towards

its attainment and I here and now promise to render such action.

I fully realize that no wealth or position will long endure

unless it is built upon truth and justice;

therefore I will engage in no transaction which does not benefit

all to whom it effects.

I am succeeding by attracting to myself the forces I wish to use

and the cooperation of other people.

I induce others to serve me because of my willingness to serve others.

I eliminate hatred, envy, jealousy, selfishness, cynicism, anger, and fear by developing a true love for all humanity,

because I know that a negative attitude towards others

will never bring me success.

I cause others to believe in me because I believe in them

and believe in myself.

This is my creed, my quest.

To never stop striving for the top.

To always keep moving forward.

To always be the very best I can be.

I am the power. I am the magic. I cannot be stopped. I am a winner.

I promise to always be true to myself

because I am the creator and master of my universe

and I am responsible for making a positive difference in the world

and to the quality of life in it.

I live in constant and never-ending improvement.

- Napoleon Hill is the author of the book Think and Grow Rich

In Times of Difficulties

We often face a lot of difficult times in our lives. I can understand that fully as I also have been through a lot. But let’s not go back to those times.

As I believe in the Law of Attraction and I live in practice of it in my daily life, I no longer get bitter about the past. I only have the future to look forward to, as well as enjoying the present. My “now” and my “future” matters to me more than my past and the bitterness of it.
Ever since I understood the works of LOA, I let go of the resistance and I chose to go upstream at all times. I face challenges in a different perspective now. I no longer say “hardships” or “setbacks” but instead, I see every challenges as a lesson yet to be learned. Now most of you don’t like to hear that as it sounds a bit too cliche. But you see, once you have accepted the facts of reality and just let it be, you will live more abundantly.
Just focus on what you want. Every challenges on the way, don’t make those the reason for you to change your goals and aspirations. They are not signals for you to back off from what you wanted. It only directs you to a better situation and a way in reaching what you want.
See, the universe knows you more than you know yourself. Every vibration you put out into the universe, it helps you get it. That is why it is important to have “good vibes” or good vibrations. This will guide you in having only the best in life.
